Why use digital X-rays?
Our office has used digital x-rays exclusively since December 2000 because:
- Digital x-rays utilize a sensor in place of a conventional x-ray film.
- The image is displayed instantly and can be manipulated in a variety of ways to enhance diagnosis.
The computer can correct certain exposure problems so there is reduced need to retake images. - Digital xrays use only 10% of the radiation of conventional xrays. They are safer than conventional x-rays.
- The images are stored electronically. They can be compared with prior images immediately for better diagnosis. These x-rays can also be sent electronically for consultations.
